The United Nations Security Council is one of six principal organs of the United Nations. Organized in 1945, the UNSEC has been responsible for maintaining world peace as seen with its responses in Kosovo and Cyprus. The UNSEC is composed of five cold war era powers: France, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, and the Russian Federation, and 12 non-permanent members. However, the UNSEC is facing increasing scrutiny in part to the five permanent parties veto power on all resolutions. Delegates in this committee will work together to address pressing issues that affect global security and the problems that would allow them to reoccur.Â
This is a Expert committee, some background MUN experience is preferred.
